'Don't interfere in our internal affairs': India rejects Erdogan's communal diplomacy on Kashmir

Rejecting all references made by the Turkish President on Jammu and Kashmir, MEA spokesperson Ravish Kumar said that the region is an integral and inalienable part of India.

Reacting sharply to Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s communal Islamist remarks over Kashmir in Pakistan Parliament, India on Saturday warned the Turkish President against interfering in its internal affairs.

Rejecting all references made by the Turkish President on Jammu and Kashmir, MEA spokesperson Ravish Kumar said that the region is an integral and inalienable part of India.

“India rejects all references to Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India,” he was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

“We call upon the Turkish leadership not to interfere in India’s internal affairs and develop a proper understanding of the facts, including the grave threat posed by terrorism emanating from Pakistan to India and the region,” he added.

Addressing the joint session of Pakistani Parliament, Erdogan had said that Turkey will always support Pakistan on Kashmir issue.

“Today, the issue of Kashmir is as close to us as it is to you. As in the past, we will continue to stand by Pakistan in the future,” he said.

Sounding like a jihadist, Erdogan said, “No distance can build a wall between the hearts of believers. If there is torture against any believers in the world, it’s our duty to help them.”
