Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has rued the fact that his country is not producing even basic medical equipments like ventilators which has severely hampered the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Talking to media persons through video conferencing, Imran said that though the country succeeded in making atom bombs but lacks the capacity to produce ventilators.
Blaming his country’s overdependence on imports for this glaring gap, Imran said that it was unfortunate to see that an atomic power is not in a position to manufacture basic equipment.
“We could do that. This is not rocket science. After all, we have made atom bombs,” Imran added.
Pakistan is facing an acute shortage of ventilators as the number of COVID-19 patients is witnessing a huge increase with each passing day.
A few days ago, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar had appealed to India to supply 10,000 ventilators to his country to battle COVID-19 pandemic.
“If India can make 10,000 ventilators for us, Pakistan will remember this gesture forever,” Shoaib Akhtar said.
Country that made atom bomb could have easily made ventilators instead of importing.
But Pakistan's atom bomb is also 'imported' na.. pic.twitter.com/gdzPvrXNTI
