Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen is regarded as a lady with strong nerves. She has gone through numerous upheavals in her life. Taslima was forced to leave her country for challenging the religious orthodoxy and questioning the relevance of gender discrimination in the name of religion. Taslima has always displayed the nerves of steel while taking on the self-appointed saviours of Islam. She came across as a woman with strong convictions and rock-like will-power.
However, she got emotional on Monday when Eid al-Fitr was being celebrated across India. Taslima took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to share how the festive day makes her sad by reminding her of family get together of happier times.

“I do not celebrate any religious day. Eid day is like any other day to me. I cook no special food, wear no new clothing. Eid day reminds me of family get together. My parents are no more, brothers are also gone too soon. So Eid day is simply a sad day for me,” Taslima Nasreen tweeted.
