BJP MP Subramanian Swamy has asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to order CBI probe into the gruesome murder of two Hindu monks by a violent mob in Maharashtra’s Palghar.
Terming it a pre-meditated murder, Swamy said that he is consulting his colleagues for filing a PIL seeking CBI enquiry into the matter. However, he hoped that good sense will prevail and Maharashtra CM will himself order CBI probe before the PIL is filed.
“I am consulting my colleagues and after will file a PIL for a CBI inquiry into the pre-meditated murders in Palghar district recently. I hope the CM will in the meantime will himself order it,” Swamy tweeted.

A murderous mob of around 200 people intercepted a vehicle in which two Hindu monks- Maharaj Kalpavriksha Giri (70) and Sushilgiri Maharaj (30)- were travelling along with their driver Nilesh Telwade (30) on the night of April 16. The monks were reportedly on their way from Nashik to Silvassa for attending a funeral. The mob allegedly mistook them for thieves and brutally assaulted them with sticks, rods and stones.
What has stirred huge controversy is the fact that the two monks were beaten to death in the presence of policemen who had reached the spot and took the monks to their van. However, the mob refused to calm down. In a video of the incident, the monks are clearly seen as seeking protection from the policemen but they refused to extend any help. The mob kept assaulting the monks mercilessly till they succumbed.
